The AD2S80A is a single piece 10 -, 12 -, 14 -, or 16-bit tracking parser-digital converter included in a 40 - pin DIP or 44 - terminal LCC ceramic package. The working reference frequency ranges from 50hz to 20000hz. It is manufactured using the BiMOS II process, combining the benefits of CMOS logic and dual ultra-precision linear circuits on the same chip.
Functional block diagram
The converter allows users to select their own resolution and dynamic performance through external components. This gives users great flexibility in defining the converters that best suit their system requirements. The converter allows the user to select a resolution of 10, 12, 14, or 16 bits and track parser signals rotating up to 1040 rpm (62,400 rpm) when set to 10 bit resolution.
Connection Diagram
The AD2S80A converts the parser format input signal to a parallel natural binary digital word using the ratio trace conversion method. This ensures high interference resistance and lead length tolerance when the converter is away from the parser. A 10-bit, 12-bit, 14-bit, or 16-bit output word is a three-state digital logic that is available in 2-byte form on 16 output data lines. BYTE SELECT, ENABLE, and INHIBIT pins ensure easy data transfer to the 8 - and 16-bit data buses, and provide output to allow period or pitch counting in external counters. Analog signals proportional to speed are also available and can be used in place of tachometer generators.
