U-blox announced the launch of the new out of the box XPLR-HPG-1 and XPLR-HPG-2 high-precision positioning communication exploration kits, aiming to further improve the efficiency of product development engineers for applications that need to test GNSS centimeters and positioning functions at the initial stage of research and development.
The u-blox ready to use XPLR-HPG-1 and XPLR-HPG-2 exploration kits will for the first time combine the key technology combination of u-blox in the field of high-precision positioning. In addition to the open MCU, the series of kits will also include high-precision GNSS (HPG) positioning with real-time dynamic (RTK), inertial navigation, cellular communication, Wi Fi and Bluetooth communication and other functions, as well as necessary antenna equipment.
In addition, the XPLR-HPG series suite can be seamlessly integrated with u-blox PointPerfect GNSS enhanced services and ubxlib software components. Among them, ubxlib can simplify developers' experience of using u-blox products and services, especially in component evaluation and prototype design. XPLR-HPG series kits focus more on applications such as micro mobility and low-speed robots, helping R&D engineers build, test and demonstrate early proof of concept more quickly, and generally shorten the time to market.
Both XPLR-HPG-1 and XPLR-HPG-2 exploration suites will include all the required u-blox technologies and software. The modular XPLR-HPG-1 suite will be based on the wireless MCU in u-blox NORA-W106, with Wi Fi and low-power Bluetooth functions, allowing engineers to flexibly use MIKROE Click boards equipped with various u-blox modules ™ To adjust its solution to meet its requirements for positioning accuracy.
This kit includes three Click boards, including ZED-F9R high-precision RTK GNSS module, LARA-R6001D LTE Cat 1 module (with global coverage and built-in MQTT client), and NEO-D9S L-band calibration data receiver module. Engineers can purchase other modules according to specific application needs. The source code of XPLR-HPG-1 suite also includes the sample software of the Espressif IoT Development Framework (ESP-IDF) based on the ubxlib software component.
XPLR-HPG-2 has a smaller and simpler appearance and provides an integrated solution. It is equipped with ZED-F9R high-precision RTK GNSS module, LARA-R6001D LTE Cat 1 module (with global coverage and built-in MQTT client), NEO-D9S L-band calibration data receiver module, and NINA-W106 module with MCU, low-power Bluetooth and Wi Fi functions.
By integrating multiple technologies into a single exploration suite, XPLR-HPG will help product R&D engineers achieve centimeter level positioning accuracy in various scenarios. The GNSS receiver provides the initial position reading, and then uses the correction data provided by the PointPerfect service to further improve the accuracy, and finally uses L-band satellite signals and cellular and/or Wi Fi communications for transmission.
"For consumer and industrial applications, centimeter level positioning accuracy has become increasingly important, and depends on the combination of GNSS technology and wireless communication functions, and the connection with enhanced data services such as PointPerfect. The purpose of developing this series of new suites is to focus on providing all key technologies and services, and to simplify the workflow of design engineers as much as possible, so as to help them quickly create proof of concept of solutions, so that they can quickly The finished product is delivered to the customer.
