The automotive industry and many other industries will benefit from rapid roll-to-roll manufacturing and better integration of films into holographic end-use applications. DELO therefore developed DELO PHOTOBOND UV acrylate for optoelectronics products, enabling the Covestro produced holographic film to bond quickly and realistically.
Ar-hud depicts one of the most important future applications of holographic films, such as Costitron's Bayfol HX. Since these films are incorporated into the windscreen, the projection merges with reality, so navigation appears to be displayed directly on the road. These films provide brighter and larger images while reducing installation space.
This holographic film technology also provides design freedom and smaller space requirements for automotive rear lights and other automotive lighting applications. Custom holograms can also be created to improve safety, such as displaying "stop" warnings within the driver's field of view.
The film typically consists of rGB-sensitive photosensitive polymers placed on a transparent carrier film and embedded between two protective layers. Whatever the application, the holographic films are thin, light and completely invisible under so-called non-Bragg conditions -- when coupled light fails to meet specific requirements, such as the correct wavelength.
