Texas Instruments bq500511 is a wireless power transmitter controller that, when used in conjunction with the bq50002 analog front-end device, integrates all the functions needed to create a Qi-compliant or proprietary 5V transmitter. Together, bq500511 and bq50002 provide a compact wireless charger solution. bq500511 pings the surrounding environment to power up the receiver device, securely engage the device, receive packet communications from the powered device, and manage power transmission in accordance with WPC v1.2 specifications. To maximize flexibility in wireless power control applications, the bq500511 is equipped with Dynamic Power Limiting (DPL). DPL enhances the user experience by seamlessly optimizing the available power usage of a limited input power source. The system supports foreign object detection (FOD) by continuously monitoring the efficiency of the established power transmission, thereby preventing power loss due to misplaced metal objects in the wireless power transmission field. If there is any abnormal situation during the power transmission, the bq500511 will handle the situation and provide an indication output. Comprehensive status and fault monitoring capabilities enable low-cost but reliable Qi-certified wireless power system designs. The bq500511 is available in a thermally enhanced 6mm x 6mm, 40-pin VQFN package.
