Texas Instruments and Volkswagen have collaborated on a new infotainment platform that provides one of the most dynamic technologies and offers a higher level of performance, flexibility and adaptability. The Volkswagen MIB II infotainment platform integrates TI's "Jacinto" processor, power management integrated circuit (IC), and FPD-Link III serializer and deserializer. Together, TI devices provide improved processing performance, platform scalability, and a responsive user interface.
The MIB II platform leverages the Jacinto infotainment processor family from Jacinto 5 Eco to Jacinto 6, providing unprecedented performance and functional scale across the entire product line. The processor enables faster processing speeds, increasing user interactivity and improving graphics capabilities, enabling high-resolution capacitive touch displays. In addition, the scalability of the Jacinto series is able to support four different host configurations, depending on the required level of Volkswagen trim.
Finally, the company said that Jacinto devices that power the MIB II platform (both TechniSat and Delphi have developed these variants) provide hardware acceleration capabilities that allow them to work with Volkswagen ’s Car-Net suite (including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink ) Implement the latest connection options.
Curt Moore, general manager of TI ’s automotive processors, said: “Through TI and Volkswagen ’s cooperation on the MIB II platform, it is clear that a wide range of processing performance is required to enhance the user experience.” “TI ’s Jacinto infotainment processor enables this platform Provide advanced mobile connectivity options to improve the overall driver experience with higher resolution and a more responsive user interface.
