Texas Instruments' INA190 current shunt monitor provides overcurrent protection for precision current measurement for system optimization or for closed-loop feedback circuits. These voltage output monitors can detect the voltage drop across the shunt at a common-mode voltage of –0.2V to + 40V, regardless of the supply voltage. The device has five fixed gain options: 25V / V, 50V / V, 100V / V, 200V / V or 500V / V. The device provides low input bias current, allowing the use of larger current-sense resistors. This allows accurate current measurements in the microamp range. By using the low offset voltage in the zero-drift architecture, the dynamic range of the current measurement can be extended, resulting in lower power consumption for smaller sense resistors. The monitor uses a single power supply from 1.7V to 5.5V. When enabled, the monitor consumes a maximum of 65μA supply current, and when disabled, it only sinks 0.1μA. Other features include an extended operating temperature range of –40C to + 125C and a low offset voltage of ± 15μV (max). Applications include laptops, mobile phones, battery-powered devices, telecommunications equipment, power management, and battery chargers. .
