TPS65720 is a new product of Texas Instruments (TI), is a small power management unit, mainly used in Bluetooth headsets and other portable low-power consumer terminal products. The device contains a USB-friendly lithium-ion battery charger, a high-efficiency buck converter, a low-dropout linear regulator, and other support functions, and is controlled by an I2C interface. You can use the factory-set non-volatile memory to customize several settings. The 2.25MHz buck converter enters a low-power mode at light load to achieve the highest efficiency in the widest possible load current range. For low noise applications, an I2C compatible interface can be used to force the device into fixed frequency PWM mode. This device allows the use of small inductors and capacitors to achieve a smaller solution size. The PS65720 provides an output current of up to 200mA on the DC-DC converter. The TPS65720 also integrates a 200mA LDO. The LDO operates from an input voltage range of 1.8V to 5.6V, allowing power to be provided from the output of the buck converter or directly from the system voltage. The TPS65720 is available in a small 25-ball wafer chip scale package (WCSP) with a pitch of 0.4mm or a 4mm × 4mm QFN package (TPS65721) with a pitch of 0.4mm.
