TDK Corporation's CLT32 series of power inductors offer extremely compact dimensions and excellent electrical values. The nine models have an inductance range of 17 nH to 440 nH and are designed for saturation currents from 13.5 A to 60 A. The compact size of 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm and the insertion height of 2.5 mm make these SMT power inductors extremely compact. They are designed for a temperature range of -40°C to +165°C (including self-heating).
These AEC-Q200 qualified components feature a solid copper coil design overmolded with a ferromagnetic plastic composite. The coil ends are used as terminals, significantly improving reliability, especially in automotive applications. With solid copper coils, these products achieve extremely low RDC values, minimizing losses. At an inductance value of 17 nH, the ohmic resistance is only 0.39 mΩ.
The compact and highly robust CLT32 inductors are ideal for safety-critical automotive applications in ADAS/AD. High-performance processors used in these fields require currents in the double-digit ampere range. Power management ICs (PMICs) are used as power supplies to deliver these high currents and use power inductors to stabilize critical components on the output. CLT32 models are designed for switching frequencies up to 10 MHz and meet future requirements for DC/DC converters with high clock rates
