The TDK Group presents the new EPCOS B72314S2* series (AdvanceD S14 Compact) leaded chip varistors. The new family of components covers an operating voltage range of 175 VRMS to 625 VRMS, a single-pulse current (8/20 µs) maximum inrush current capability of up to 6000 A, and multiple surges up to 3000 A at 8/20 µs Current, UL 1449 Fourth Edition Type 5 Component Certification.
One of the standout features of the new components is that they are smaller in size than comparable S14 AdvanceD-type components, yet have comparable performance. The diameter of the chip elements varies from 13 to 14 mm, which is about 3 mm smaller than the AdvanceD S14 series. The new components also feature a synthetic resin coating with a flame rating of UL 94 V-0. In addition, SIOV varistors are also certified by UL, CSA, VDE and IEC.
With its compact size and excellent electrical specifications, the AdvanceD S14 Compact Varistor is suitable for a wide range of applications such as home appliances, smart meters, inverters, and helps save space.
