KIOXIA Europe Ltd. announced that it has started sampling the latest generation of JEDEC e-MMC Ver. 5.1 compliant embedded flash memory products for consumer applications. The new products are available in 64GB and 128GB capacities and combine the company's BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory and controller.
Axel Stoermann, VP Memory Marketing and Engineering, KIOXIA Europe Ltd said: "Considering that evolving consumer applications require an enhanced next-generation e-MMC, KIOXIA is addressing this need with the launch of the latest JEDEC e-MMC Ver. 5.1 and Leading the way forward in this regard by offering a broader, higher-performance product range."
Mid-range capacity demand continues to grow in consumer products such as tablets and IoT devices. Despite the gradual shift in the market to UFS, e-MMC will continue to play a role in some cases. Its new e-MMC device expands the options available.
