STMicroelectronics (ST;), the world's leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications, has launched a new platform that can accelerate the development of digital car keys. With the digital key, consumers can enter the car through a mobile device without the need for a key.
In addition to enhancing security, digital car keys can also provide owners with greater vehicle convenience, including the ability to customize vehicle access rights while protecting vehicle security. Business activities such as car sharing, fleet management, and vehicle leasing will benefit from, for example, easier key issuance, access control, and access to vehicles for valet drivers and auto service technicians.
The total solution is based on ST's latest vehicle-compliant security unit hardware, developed in partnership with Giesecke+Devrient (G+D), and supports the latest version 3.0 of the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standard for digital car keys , to ensure that the application has a high security protection function.

STMicroelectronics' STSAFE-VJ100-CCC vehicle SoC solution is based on the CC EAL6+ certified Level 2 vehicle-qualified ST33K-A security chip and integrates Java® Card application software. The SoC is responsible for storing certificates and other sensitive information and performing the cryptographic operations required for CCC Digital Car Key v3.0 use cases, such as owner pairing, key sharing, key deactivation/deletion. This provides a solid foundation for customers to build digital car key solutions.
