Power Integrations has introduced LYTSwitch-5, a family of single-stage LED driver ICs that combines PFC and constant current output and supports a variety of common LED driver topologies. Driver requirements for solid-state lighting applications vary widely, and power engineers often face challenges to quickly develop optimized designs in response to lighting designer requirements. The LYTSwitch-5 series supports safe-rated isolated flyback topologies for ballast applications, as well as non-isolated topologies for low-cost lamps and bulbs, such as buck and buck-boost. In addition, the choice of low-side or high-side switches enables designers to optimize for low EMI or reduce inductor complexity. By achieving more than 90% efficiency, 0.9PF, less than 5% THD, and +/- 3% current regulation accuracy on line, load, production difference, temperature and multiple topologies, LYTSwitch-5 is the best Best LED driver for applications below 25W. The high efficiency of the LYTSwitch-5 LED driver design results in a smaller heat sink, a more compact implementation, and a longer life.
