Phoenix Contact's UBAL terminal series consists of aluminum wire and copper wire, which can be used for UBAL universal terminal blocks. The pre lubricated contact chamber simplifies the connection of aluminum conductors and ensures that screw connections do not require maintenance. These blocks achieve the best conductor connection because each block is equipped with socket head cap screws, allowing high tightening torque to be applied to the screws.
There are some guidelines that must be followed when connecting aluminum conductors. Aluminum starts to oxidize immediately after contacting with oxygen. The oxide layer is very hard and non-conductive. It must be removed before installation. For aluminium conductors, according to IEC 60228, only two types of conductors can be classified as Class 1 (solid state) and Class 2 (stranded).
