CMOS image sensor company OmniVision recently announced the launch of the OV08X, the industry's first 9.2-megapixel CMOS sensor with a 0.7-micron pixel size that enables 4K video capture in a 1/5.7-inch optical size.
The OV08X accommodates a wide variety of 16:10 (1920x1200) aspect ratio displays and occupies only 4mm in vertical length (y-axis). It is the first image sensor in the notebook computer market that integrates a four-element color filter array and an on-chip hardware puzzle, which can provide high-quality 9.2 million Bayer in real time (the Bayer format refers to the fact that most color image sensors have only Sensing the color of one of the three RGB channels for cost-saving manufacturing) output.
