To protect data lines that may be subject to destructive electrostatic discharge (ESD), Littlefuse has introduced a miniature four-way bidirectional SP1015 series TVS diode array (SPA diode).
The rugged diode can safely absorb repeated ESD shocks (± 20kV contact, ± 30kV air), which is much higher than the maximum level specified by the international standard IEC61000-4-2 without degrading performance. When AC signals are present, their bidirectional configuration provides symmetrical ESD protection for the data lines. The SP1015 series has only a dynamic resistance of 0.65Ω, which supports the low clamping voltage required to protect the small size integrated circuits used in modern electronic equipment. Because the SP1015 series uses a compact flip-chip package to provide four-wire ESD protection, it is well-suited for applications that save board space, including micro-SIM interfaces, touch screen controller cables, and general-purpose I / O on smart phones and wearable devices. The company says tablets and e-book readers.
"The SP1015 series uses technology we developed for the award-winning SP1012 series TVS diode arrays," said Tim Micun, product manager of the Littlefuse TVS diode array product line. "Its compact footprint of less than one square millimeter helps circuit designers save space and cost on printed circuit boards."
