Littelfuse introduces the first discrete thyristor device capable of withstanding voltage spikes above 1200V.
Teccor's SK225xD / SK255KD / SK625xD / SK655KD series SCR switches are unidirectional switches designed to handle voltage spikes and surges in input AC power. SCR can withstand up to 1,300V (SK225xD and SK255KD series) or 1,700V (SK625xD and SK655KD series) without failure.
This device is suitable for switching 50 / 60Hz AC power supply up to 440Vrms. These high-voltage SCRs have high repeatability and non-repetitive peak phase loss voltage (VDRM / VDSM) ratings, ensuring reliable operation even under high-voltage surge conditions common in commercial AC power supplies in certain regions.
The company claims that typical applications for SK225xD / SK255KD / SK625xD / SK655KD series thyristor switches include AC solid state switches, industrial power tools and line rectification (50 / 60Hz).
Daisy Wang, Global Product Marketing Manager, said: "These high-voltage SCRs are well-suited for use as unidirectional switches for AC mains voltages up to 240Vrms. The power supply will experience frequent voltage surges or mains voltage fluctuations, or stabilize the voltage. This is true for 440Vrms under SCR. Thyristors are SCR switches. "They are particularly useful in areas where AC supply voltages are unstable; even 240Vrms or lower lines may have voltage spikes of 1000V or higher, so 1200V or 1600V SCR may be required . "
