Integrated Equipment Technology (IDT) announced the addition of 6- and 8-output 3.3V clock generators to its low-power PCI Express (PCIe) clock generator portfolio. The 3.3V series devices join the existing 1.5V and 1.8V series. The new product has an operating power consumption of approximately 100 milliwatts and is the lowest power 3.3V PCIe clock generator on the market. The company said that by operating at about one-fifth the power of traditional PCIe clock devices, IDT 3.3 V devices effectively eliminate heat dissipation issues.
The 9FGL06 and 9FGL08 devices have integrated terminals, and their ultra-compact 5mm x 5mm and 6mm x 6mm packages can reduce board area by as much as 90%. The factory programmable version provides fast steering equipment optimization to meet exact customer requirements. SoC-friendly devices expect that the upcoming PCIe Gen4 specification will greatly exceed the phase jitter requirements of the PCIe Gen3 specification, and are also suitable for applications requiring 12k-20M phase jitter less than 3ps rms, such as Gigabit Ethernet and other high-bandwidth applications .
Kris Rausch, General Manager of Performance Applications , said: "With the release of our 9FGL series, IDT has added 3.3 V devices to its low-power, high-performance PCIe clock generator product portfolio. These features can meet customers’ requirements for reducing space and power consumption. Demand. "IDT ’s multi-market timing department. "Looking forward, we fully hope that these new devices will meet the requirements of the upcoming PCIe Gen4 standard." The
3.3 V device is pin compatible with IDT's highly successful 1.5 V 9FGU series and 1.8 V 9FGV series PCIe clock generators. The timing series is designed for power consumption and space constraints in consumer and high-performance applications, while providing total enterprise cost while reducing total cost of ownership. Potential applications include multifunction printers, servers, set-top boxes and solid-state drives. The entire series complies with PCIe generations 1, 2 and 3.
The 3.3 V (L-series) series of products offers industry firsts, including: 1-output-by-output configuration of output impedance, allowing the use of a single component in a mixed impedance environment without external termination components 2-The factory-programmable version allows the user to define the default configuration, including output impedance, control input polarity, internal pull-up or pull-down resistors, and crystal oscillator LAN wake-up mode. This virtually eliminates the need for all external glue logic.
IDT plans to quickly follow this initial product through the 3.3V version of low-power PCIe buffers and multiplexers that are pin compatible with the successful 9DBU / V and 9DMU / V series. 2, 4, 6, 3, 3, 3, 6, 6, 6, 3, 6, 3 or 8 outputs. The clock generator supports both the PCIe common clock architecture with or without spread spectrum and the PCIe independent reference (IR) clock architecture (non-extended). These devices also provide a copy of the reference clock, thereby saving crystals in the design.
The 6-output 9FGL06xx and 8-output 9FGL08xx PCIe clock generators are now available. The company said that two-output 9FGL02 and four-output 9FGL04 clock generators will be available in the third quarter of 2015.
