The MIC2224 is an efficient 2MHz PWM synchronous step-down switching regulator optimized for 2.5G and 3G CDMA RF power amplifiers. Temperatures range from -40°C to +125°C and are available in a 10-pin 3mm x 3mm MLF package.
Pin Configuration
The output voltage of the MIC2224 can be dynamically adjusted with an external DAC to maximize PA efficiency in relation to the desired output power. When the PA requires maximum power, the DAC can be used to enable a low-on-resistance 40mΩ bypass switch to supply power directly to the PA from the battery.
Typical Application
The MIC2224's 2MHz PWM operation allows for minimal components. It also allows devices to easily meet stringent W-CDMA VOUT response specifications. The MIC2224 operates from 2.7V to 5.5V inputs, making it ideal for single-cell lithium-ion applications. The device has a built-in power mosfet that provides an output current of up to 600mA in PWM mode or more than 1A in bypass mode. The MIC2224 operates at 100% maximum duty cycle and is suitable for low leakage pressure conditions.
