The Texas Instruments TPS56C231 is a small, high-efficiency, synchronous buck converter with an adaptive on-time D-CAP3 control mode. The device operates over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C. Since no external compensation is required, the device is simple to use and requires few external components. This device is ideal for data center applications where space is limited.
The device features a very accurate reference voltage, fast load transient response, no external compensation required, adjustable current limit, and Eco-mode and FCCM modes of operation, selectable under light load conditions through configuration of the MODE pin. For high efficiency at light loads, Eco-mode can be selected. To meet the output voltage ripple requirements, FCCM can be selected.
