Ams has announced the launch of its new high-power UV-C LED product, O SL ON UV 6060, which delivers a 265-nanometer emission wavelength with the highest sterilization efficiency, a single chip source with a powerful 100-milliwatt light output and market-leading electro-optical conversion efficiency.

The wavelength range of 200-280 nm, the so-called UV-C radiation from the sun, is blocked outside the Earth's atmosphere, which is why bacteria and viruses have little or no defense mechanism against UV-C during evolution. If artificially generated UV-C radiation is used to irradiate bacteria, it will attack the cell structure of viruses or bacteria while changing microbial DNA, thus damaging their replication ability.
UV-C has been used for purification for many years. Compared with the mercury vapor lamp with large volume and limited wavelength used in the past, the UV-C LED based on the advanced AIGaN technology has a flexible design compared with the traditional light source. This product is compact in size, with an area of only 6mm x 6mm, which is especially convenient for applications with limited space. It allows LEDs to be directly installed at the action points that need disinfection and sterilization, such as washing machines or air conditioners. The high-power version of OSLON UV series can achieve an average optical power of 100 milliwatts at 250 mA.
