In today's automotive market, more and more models are equipped with an idling stop (start-stop) system, which helps improve fuel efficiency. For safety reasons, the automatic engine restart function of the idle stop system is suspended when the door is opened and closed. However, sometimes in the event of a technical failure (such as an open circuit), the idling stop system will not activate. In order to fully realize the fuel efficiency potential of a vehicle, a mechanism is needed to accurately detect open or closed states and quickly detect breaks, short circuits, or other abnormal conditions in the surrounding circuits.
Detection usually uses an on / off detection switch combined with a resistor. During the on / off switch, a circuit interruption or short circuit is detected from the abnormal output voltage value. Early switches mainly used external lead-type resistors soldered to the on / off detection circuit, but there were still problems, such as solder defects and poor waterproof seals.
ALPS 'SPVQD series helps improve quality consistency and reduce circuit size by physically mounting chip-type resistors in the switch package while maintaining the same dimensions (15.2mm × 6.4mm × 7.45mm) as the existing SPVQA series . This also allows the user to omit the process of fixing external resistors. Since up to three resistors can be installed to facilitate various resistor settings, this product also helps increase design freedom.
In addition, the detector uses a "clip" type double-sided sliding contact structure that can hold fixed contacts from both sides. This is achieved by applying ALPS's proprietary precision processing technology. This configuration can achieve high contact reliability, and has strong resistance to particles, vibration and shock. The company said that the SPVQD series has a dust and water resistance rating of IP67.
